On March 29. 1911 seventy-five persons met in Faith Chapel, which was located on "M" Street between 4th and 6th Streets, S.W., and organized themselves into the Pilgrim Baptist Church. After accepting the call on February 3, 1990, Rev. Louis B. Jones II, was elected as the fifth pastor of Pilgrim Baptist Church and continues to share the word of God to it's members. The Pilgrim Baptist Church Believes: God is an infinite, holy, intelligent spirit (John 4:24), God the Father (Psalm 89:26; I Peter 1:2) God the Son (John 1:1) and God the Holy Ghost (Acts 5:3-4). Jesus Christ is God's only provision for our eternal salvation (John 14:6) and the only way to be saved is to pray and ask Jesus to come into our lives (Revelations 3:20). The Bible to be the inspired word of God and free from all error and contridiction (II Timothy 3:16,17; II Peter 1:20,21).
We are eternally secure in Christ (Ephesians 4:30; John 10:27-30). In the Priesthood and equallity of all Believers. ( I Peter 2:9; Galatians 3:28). Every Believer is to be baptised by immersion (Matthew 28:19). Every member should be a supporting member of the local church (I Corinthians 16:2). Evangelism decipleship edification, and exaltation of Jesus Christ represent the supreme task of the church (Matthew 28:19-20). As a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church you have found Christ and accepted Him as your Savior and Lord. You have the privledges of being part of a church that has a illustirious beggining, a glorious present, and a future as brignt as the promises of God. We have the opportunities to fellowship with other Believers for Christian growth, development, training, and service. Our task is to carry the Gospel of Christ to every nation and tongue. |
