Quick Guide to Reliable Food Resources Across D.C.

ree

As the government shutdown drags on and they are threatening a pause on SNAP benefits, here is a list of food assistance programs in Washington, D.C., offering free groceries, meals, and pantry items for individuals and families in need. A lot of this information can be found here on our website, but there are some different resources here not found on our webpage. Let's continue to keep one another in prayer, and show charity and generousity to one another in whatever way we can.

This list includes well-known organizations like Capital Area Food Bank, Thrive DC, Martha’s Table, and Bread for the City, which provide fresh produce, non-perishable foods, and meal services throughout the week.

Faith-based groups such as Catholic Charities, Lutheran Church of Reformation, and The United Church offer regular food distributions, often requiring simple proof of ID or residency. Other programs focus on special needs — for example, DC Food Project supports schoolchildren, Food for All delivers to single parents, and SOME (So Others Might Eat) serves hot meals daily.

The flyer also lists the Hunger Hotline (1-866-3-HUNGRY) for anyone seeking immediate help finding nearby food banks or meal programs.
